The Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) through The Ministry of Industry, Investment & Commerce, has developed the National Quality Awards (NQA) Programme, which seeks to promote the international competitiveness of Jamaican products and services, and create a national medium for business excellence. The NQA Programme is Jamaica’s first quality systems based awards programme that seeks to recognize and reward local companies that demonstrate the application of high standards and quality systems in both the production of goods and delivery of service.

The 2012 National Quality Awards will be presented at an official ceremony to be held on Thursday 11 October 2012, (venue to be announced) during the week of World Standards Day.
The Keynote Speaker will be The Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller, Prime Minister of Jamaica.
World Standards Day is celebrated each year to pay tribute to the efforts of thousands of experts worldwide that collaborate within International Standards Bodies to develop voluntary International Standards that facilitate trade, spread knowledge and disseminate technological advances.
