The
Facilties Management Division of the Bureau of Standards is
a newly created entity at the Bureau as a direct consequence
of its restructuring. Its mandate is as its name implies,
the proper management of the facilities of the Bureau of standards.
This includes buildings, equipment, grounds, motor vehicles
and the security of all these.
The
division is headed by the Facilities Manager, and staffed
with a cadre of persons ranging from engineers, technicians,
tradesmen, drivers and casual labourers supported by secretarial
and clerical assistants.
The
division has basically three components:
| 1. |
General
Maintenance |
| 2. |
Electro-mechanical
maintenance |
| 3. |
External
contracting (This aspect deals with our external contractors
be it janitorial or security services as well as any external
contractors engaged to perform work on behalf of the Bureau) |
Our
mandate demands that we ensure as best as possible, that all
aspects of the Bureau's operations are conducted with minimum
of dislocation due to inadequate facilities. That the environment
in which our co-workers exist is conducive to efficient operations.
