The Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) to get new Executive Director

Last Modified: 01 Mar, 19

In September 2018, a competitive selection process for the position of Executive Director was initiated. This was in accordance with the guidelines outlined by the Public Services Commission.

A Selection Committee was empanelled, consisting of the acting permanent secretary for the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, along with three (3) members of the Standards Council to conduct the process of identifying a new Executive Director. At the end of the process, a new Executive Director was identified. The contracting of a new Executive Director is in its final stage.

The BSJ envisages that a new Executive Director will be in place by March 2019. In the interim, Dr. Dwight Ramdon, current director of the Science & Technology Division, will act in the capacity of Executive Director. Dr. Ramdon has been with the BSJ for over twelve (12) years.

The Standard Council thanks Mr. Stephen Wedderburn for his tenure at the BSJ and for his invaluable contribution to the organization, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fishers (MICAF), and to Jamaica.
