1st Place Winner:  Bamboo & Indigenous Materials Product Standards Technical Committee

The members of the Bamboo & Indigenous Materials Product Standards Technical Committee are: Ms. Marsha Rae McBean (Chair); Ms. Jodiel Ebanks (Vice-Chair); Mr. Gladstone Rose (Technical Secretary); Dr. Sylvia Mitchell (Technical Secretary); Mrs. Melinda Dowe, Mr. Shane Slater (Facilitator), Ms. Jassett Jackson (Recording Secretary); Dr. Marva Blankson; Mrs. Berletta Henlon Forrester; Ms. Christine Hinds; Mr. Gordon McDowell, Lisa Francis and Mr. Gurvon Spence

The Committee facilitates the development, revision, and adoption of standards relating to the bamboo industry.  Members of the Committee also participate in the National Mirror Committee for ISO/TC 296 – Bamboo and rattan.  The Committee’s current work plan includes the development and adoption of standards for bamboo woven products; bamboo sticks for culinary purposes; bamboo culms — structural design; grading of bamboo culms — basic principles and procedures and vocabulary related to bamboo and bamboo products.

The Committee facilitates the development, revision, and adoption of standards relevant to the food industry.  The Committee currently has five (5) Working Groups: Ketchup, Jerk, Milk Alternatives, Poultry and Ready-to-eat Foods.  The Committee’s current work plan includes the revision of standards for Processed food (General); Processed food – Ketchup; Poultry and poultry products; Plant-based milk alternatives; Ready to eat foods served in establishments; Jerk seasoning and Jerk sauce and Spices and Sauces.

3rd Place Winner: Transportable Gas Containers Technical Committee

The members of the Transportable gas containers Technical Committee are: Mr. Howard Chin (Chairperson); Mr. Dwight “Castro” Campbell (Vice Chair); Mr. Godfrey Boyd (Technical Secretary); Mrs. Elaine Edwards (Facilitator); Ms. Jassett Jackson (Recording Secretary); Mr. Romeo Boyd; Professor Vernon Buchanan; Mr. Steve Green; Mr. Lelland Martin; Mr. Sean Martin; Mr. Glen-Ross McDonald; Mr. Odane McIntyre; Mr. Omar Morgan, Dr. Wendell Richards; Ms. Carla Tucker and Ms. Tanisha Wallace.

The Committee facilitates the development, revision and adoption of standards relating to transportable gas containers. Compliance with these standards will ensure the safety of the products and the ultimate protection of the consumers.  The Committee’s current work plan includes the revision of standards for fully wrapped composite gas cylinders; periodic inspection and testing of composite gas cylinders and the repair and rebuilding of low-pressure welded steel transportable gas containers.
