The Correctional Services Technical Committee - 16 members

Introduction:

At the request of the Ministry of National Security (MNS) The BSJ was called to establish the Correctional Services Technical Committee to develop national standards for Correctional Services in Jamaica.

 

Scope of work:

The scope of the Correctional Services Technical Committee entails:

  1. Development of relevant Jamaican standards
  2. Developing/adopting/modified adoptions of relevant Regional/international standards
  3. Serve as a technical advice team for related standardization activities and other related matters, (e.g. from regional or international sources) specific to the sector, that may arise during the tenure of the committee.

 

Current work programme:

No achievements to date.

The development of 5 Correctional Services Standards for the following areas:

Juvenile Correctional Service Standards

Correctional Service Standards for Women

Community Based/ Non-Custodial Correctional Service Standards

Health and Wellness Correctional Service Standards

Institutional Correctional Service Standards

 

TC achievements:

The committee is newly established. These 5 standards that the committee is working on would be their first achievement. When Jamaica develops, publish and promulgate this set of standards it would be the first of its kind in the region.
