The EEPTC is the oldest functioning technical committee in operation at the Bureau of Standards Jamaica. It boasts the longest serving members of any technical committee namely Mr. Raymond Campbell Snr. (Chair) and Mr. Winston Smith.

The scope of this committee involves the promulgation of standard that established requirements for electrical products and appliances while benchmarking best practices for operators within the industry to ensure the safety of all consumers.

The EPPTC has arguably promulgated over one hundred standards and has been actively ensuring the harmonization of Jamaican Standards with international standards as the committee is focused on adopting electrical standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC). In 2020, committee adopted the following twelve (12) IEC Standards:

  1. IEC 60730-1 Automatic electrical controls - Part 1: General requirements
