The Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) Packaging Laboratory offers  testing services that can help you demonstrate the quality, safety and compliance of your packaging materials and packages to national and international standards. Reliable packaging is an essential part of your product offering. With that said, the BSJ has sought to increase the capabilities of its Packaging Laboratory in an effort to be better equipped to deal with satisfying its customers.

Recently, our Packaging Laboratory was expanded to now offer the following services:

• Burst strength

• Seal integrity / leak detection

• Tear strength

• Ink rub

• Smoothness

The aforementioned five were added to the two services that were already provided by the laboratory: drop impact resistance and can seam analysis.

Materials we can test include paper, corrugated board, woven fabric, coated fabric, foil, plastic film and metal cans.
