Employment Opportunity | Certification Officer (NCBJ)

Job Summary

The Certification Officer will undertake conformity assessment processes in keeping with the National Certification Body of Jamaica’s (NCBJ) mandate and will also participate in the implementation and maintenance of the Unit’s management system in accordance with ISO/IEC 17021-1.

Core Functions:

  • Maintain, coordinate and execute assigned audit programmes

  • Implement and maintain a customer service management programme in ensuring achievement of NCBJ’s customer service standard

  • Provide auditing services to the NCBJ’s clients in a competent, confident, timely and impartial manner

  • Develop and maintain databases to enhance efficient monitoring of certification activities

  • Assist with the development of the NCBJ’s annual objectives, work plan and budget

  • Represent the NCBJ at meetings and conferences as required

  • Prepare and present information at training seminars and workshops

  • Develop, recommend and implement new or revised procedures to support the certification process

  • Maintain client relations and target new clients

  • Participate in promotional activities to introduce programmes to potential clients

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

  • Comprehensive knowledge in food processing techniques

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Management Systems such as ISO 9000, Food Safety etc.

  • Working knowledge of the auditing of management systems

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

  • Strong research, report writing and project management skills

  • Strong auditing technique and skills

  • Work with minimal supervision

  • Excellent planning, coordinating and organizing skills

  • Working knowledge of Public Relations, Marketing and Sales

  • Working knowledge of Data Management Systems

  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills

  • Excellent customer service attitude

  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent meeting management, mediation and negotiation skills

  • Good critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills

 

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences from an accredited institution

  • Training in Auditing of Management Systems (HACCP, ISO 9000, 22000 etc.)

  • Lead Auditor training would be an asset

  • Prior auditing experience would be an asset

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Two (2) years work experience in a similar position or related field
